Chatterbox is held at the Bishop King Centre on the Willows estate. A drop in for everyone. A chance to meet people, have a chat, a cup of tea and maybe a bite to eat. Its open most Thursdays from 9.30am till 12.00 noon

Chatterbox was started in the 1980’s when Carol Riggall and her sisters ran it as a lunch club. Joyce Pearson ran it for many years making it a thriving group. It has now evolved into a morning event serving tea, coffee and light snacks. We do bacon and sausage buns and various snacks, and a few tasty puds for those who want something more substantial.

Some people like to stay all morning others just pop in for 10 minutes.  A few of our regulars have been coming since we opened. They like to browse the papers that are provided and catch up with activities that are going on in the area. Ward councillors, Shoreline and Freshney Forward representatives pop in too. Gordon Booth or someone else in the team are usually their to handle any bookings.

Most Thursdays there is also a tabletop sale with lots of bargains. This supports the Centre’s work. A lot of chatter goes on here, so if you have a free Thursday morning why not come and see for yourself. You will be most welcome.
